  1. Cheryl,
Great graphic of the split we often speak about or refer to between the roiling, chaotic powers of the repressed id in tension with the consciousness that tries to keep the primordial powers at bay. It is unusual for us, at least, to see this break through to the surface, but I think the rest of the world sees it on a pretty regular basis. You’re showing me here esp. the artistic power in strong contrasts. Maybe we don’t like it (and who is the who who doesn’t like it?) but we aren’t the first to discover its arresting visual and psychological power. (Still speaking of strong contrasts.) I say embrace it for new and valuable material rather than reject in anger…

  2. Been thinking about this and what it reminds me of, then slap forehead! It reminds me of the Raven Shaman in our front room! Also of a bit of a quote from a Pawnee Elder:

“All things in the world are two. In our minds we are two, good and evil. With

Our eyes we see two things, things that are fair and things that are ugly. . .

We have the right hand that strikes and makes for evil, and we have the left hand full

of kindness near the heart. One foot may lead us to an evil way, the other foot may

Lead us to a good. So are all things two, all two.”
